Primary Difference
One of the primary difference is the purpose. Pipes are used for transferring materials and substances like gas, liquid and like, while seamless tubes are used for the purpose of exchanging heat.

Identification
According to the American system, Pipes can be identified by Nominal Bore (NB) or Nominal Pipe Size (NPS), its thickness by schedule, whereas Seamless Tubes are identified by Outside Diameter (OD).

Measures
Seamless Pipes are measured through its inner diameter, while the Seamless tubes are measured by Outside Diameter in inches or millimeters.

Shape
A seamless pipe is a hollow cylinder at length. A seamless tube is available in two shapes- cylindrical and rectangular.

Surface
A seamless tube has to have a smooth surface with no texture, if it is not smooth, it is not a tube. A pipe can have smooth as well as the textured surface.

Cost Of Production
Seamless tubes are expensive for a reason. The cost involved to produce them is higher as they provide higher tolerance and durability than the

Specific Usage
Seamless pipes are god for natural gas, heating oil, and miscellaneous piping used in buildings, while seamless tubes are generally used in tracing lines, tubes for heat exchanger & fired heater and in instrument connection.
